Priyamani

Priyamani is an Indian film actress, who mostly appears in South Indian films. She gained huge popularity with her role in the Tamil film Paruthiveeran. For this role she has received National Film Award for best actress and Tamilnadu State Film Award for best actress for her performance. She made her Hindi film debut with Mani Ratnam's film Raavan. Since her first Telugu film Evare Atagaadu, she was seen in hit movies like Pellaina Kothalo, Yamadonga, Golimaar, Ragada and many more. She will soon be seen in the upcoming Telugu film Angulika.

Biography

Actress Priyamani was born on 4 June 1984 in Bengaluru, Karnataka. She has studied her schooling from Sri Aurobindo Memorial School and Bishop Cotton Women's College in J C Road. During her school days, she participated in extracurricular activities and also in several sports. During her school days, she has modelled for Kancheepuram silks, Erode silks and Lakshmi silks.

Family

Priyamani was born to Vasudeva Mani Iyer and Latha Mani Iyer. Her father hails from Palakkad from a Tamil Iyer family, who owns a plantation business. Her mother was a former national badminton player and was also a bank manager at Union bank in Thiruvananthapura. Priya Vasudev has an elder brother Vishakh, who is also in the plantation business. She is the granddaughter of Carnatic vocalist Kamala Kailas and Hindi film actress Vidya Balan is her cousin. 

Engagement/Marriage

South Indian actress Priyamani is in relationship with Mustafa Raj, who is the owner of an event management company. Two years back Priyamani had met Mustufa Raj during the Indian Premier League season. Now she finally got engaged to him at her residence in Bengaluru. The ceremony was attended only by family and close friends. The couple are expected to tie the knot by the end of this year.

Career

Priyamani has started her acting career with Kollywood film "Kangalal Kaithu Sei" alongside actor Vaseegaran. Later, she moved on to Malayalam and Telugu films. She made her Telugu debut in "Evare Atagaadu". She has made her Tamil comeback with superhit movie "Paruthiveeran". In 2010, she was subsequently signed by director Mani Ratnam for his bilingual film Raavanan and Raavan in Tamil & Hindi respectively. She appeared in an item number in the Bollywood film Chennai Express.
