Shalini Kumar

Shalini Kumar is an Indian film actress, who appeared in Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil films. She is also a good singer. She made her acting debut at the age of 3 as a child artist in 1983 Malayalam film Ente Mamattikkuttiyammakku and her Telugu debut film is Jagadeka Veerudu Atiloka Sundari in 1990. She had worked as a child actor in many films. Shalini made her debut as lead in 1997 with Malayalam movie Aniyathi Pravu. After her marriage she retired from acting.

Biography

Actress Shalini Kumar was born on 20 November 1979 in Thiruvalla, Kerala. She has done her schooling from Fatima Mat. Hr. Sec School, Adarsh Vidyalaya, Chennai and Church Park Convent, Chennai. She was a Badminton player and played few state level tournaments. As a child artist she worked in more than 80 films in Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu. She is a trained Carnatic musician. She even sang a song in "Amarkalam" movie. 

Family

Shalini Kumar was born into a Malayali family to Babu and Alice. She is the middle child and has one younger sister named Shamili, who is also a famous film actress in Telugu and Malayalam. She has one elder brother Richard Rishi, who also works in the film industry.

Career

Shalini had started her career as a child artist in Ente Mamattikkuttiyammakku and has acted most of the films under the direction of Fazil. After completion of her education, she returned to film industry with Aniyathipravu in 1997 which was a blockbuster. In 2000, she worked in Kannukkul Nilavu movie, which received positive reviews and was a success at the box office. She has totally worked in 12 movies before her marriage and they all were hit at the box office.

Marriage/Husband

Shalini Kumar got married to Tamil sctor Ajith Kumar in April 2000 in Chennai. They both were of different religions, Ajith being a Hindu Brahmin and Shalini being Protestant Christian, got married in the customs of both religions. After her marriage, Shalini retired as an actress and became a full time housewife.

Shalini Kumar and Ajith Kumar have two kids Anoushka (7 years) born on 3 January 2008 in Chennai and Aadvik (8 months) born on 2 March 2015.
